Cleveland Clinic London is First Private Hospital in the UK to Earn EMRAM Stage 7 Validation

Cleveland Clinic London

Cleveland Clinic London has been validated for EMRAM Stage 7 by HIMSS, just a year after achieving EMRAM Stage 6. Since opening in 2022, the hospital continues on its digital health transformation journey with HIMSS by becoming the first private hospital in the UK to reach EMRAM Stage 6 and Stage 7, the highest possible level of validation.

EMRAM, the Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model, measures clinical outcomes, patient engagement and clinician use of EMR technology to strengthen organizational performance and health outcomes across patient populations. EMRAM scores hospitals around the world relative to their digital maturity, providing a detailed road map to ease adoption and begin digital transformation.

Building on its goals from their Stage 6 validation, Cleveland Clinic London continued to show a considerable degree of digitalisation and integration of EMR into operations, resulting in enhanced patient care, operational efficiency and data utilization. Cleveland Clinic London’s clinicians used comprehensive patient data that enabled them to make informed decisions more efficiently, leading to improved clinical outcomes and more meaningful patient interactions while also meeting EMRAM Stage 7 standards.

“Achieving EMRAM Stage 7 in two and a half years at Cleveland Clinic London exemplifies our team’s relentless commitment to excellence, innovation and transforming healthcare,” said Raihaan Mughal, Cleveland Clinic London’s chief information officer. “It underscores our commitment to embracing innovation and setting new benchmarks in healthcare excellence."

John Rayner, senior director for the HIMSS EMEA region, who led the assessment team, said, “The clinicians, technologists and management team all did a first-class job in showcasing their outstanding achievements, all of which have been made possible in the last two and a half years since opening in March 2022.”

By achieving EMRAM Stage 7 accreditation, Cleveland Clinic London has enhanced its ability to deliver the highest standards of patient safety. Through the use of advanced digital tools and analytics, the institution can now identify potential risks earlier and implement proactive measures to protect patients throughout their care journey.
