Samsung Medical Center, which has achieved four HIMSS Stage 7 maturity model validations, has been recognized as a 2024 HIMSS Davies Award recipient.
Samsung Medical Center is the first hospital to be recognized with the Davies Award in the Republic of Korea since the award’s inception in 1994.
“We are deeply honored to be recognized as a Davies Award recipient,” said Dr. Poong-Lyul Rhee, Chief Data and Digital Officer of Samsung Medical Center. “Our three innovative cases aim to improve patient outcomes and reduce the workload of medical staff, ultimately enhancing the culture in the healthcare industry. These cases demonstrate the power of digital transformation through cutting-edge technologies such as AI and robotics.”
Based in Seoul, Samsung Medical Center submitted three evidence-based case studies demonstrating the thoughtful use of data and technology innovations to improve care delivery and outcomes. With artificial intelligence as a key driver, Samsung Medical Center, facing physician and nursing staffing shortages, leveraged AI, telemonitoring, data visualization and robotics technology to improve patient safety outcomes, reduce surgical wait times and free up nursing time to focus on clinical tasks.
