How do we know if our organization is eligible for the HIMSS Organizational Affiliate program?
To be eligible for the Organizational Affiliate program, your organization must be a healthcare provider, government agency, or a public non-profit institution directly allied to care delivery. We also have a program for academic institutions.
How do I know which OA program level is best for my organization?
OA program types are based on the needs of your organization. You can contact our sales team at oasales@himss.org and they can assist you in choosing the best level for your organization.
What are some of the benefits unique to the Organizational Affiliate program?
- Unlimited memberships for the employees (or students for Academic OAs) in your organization, including a complimentary chapter membership
- Complimentary registrations to HIMSS events
- Access to the HIMSS Learning Center
- HIMSS Relationship Manager dedicated to your organization’s needs

My health system consists of many hospitals, clinics, etc. Is there a level available that will maximize more savings?
Yes, we can create a customized OA program (Premier) designed specifically for your health system. You can contact our sales team at oasales@himss.org and they can assist with that.
My organization is a college or university. Is there a program for us and our students?
Yes. The Academic Organizational Affiliate program is the right one for you. The program offers unlimited free student memberships, five free faculty memberships, discounts, and more.
Is there limit to the total number of individual memberships my organization can have as an Organizational Affiliate?
No, as an Organizational Affiliate, your organization can have an unlimited number of Individual memberships. Anyone from your organization can join, including your IT staff, IT stakeholders or project owners, and anyone who has an interest in health IT, including your key medical staff members involved in clinical informatics leadership roles. Academic OAs get unlimited free student memberships.
How will this program impact the current HIMSS members in my organization?
As an Organizational Affiliate, your current HIMSS members will be converted to an organizational individual membership. This is a seamless transition and does not impact a member’s benefits or personal information.
I’m a current member with several months left on my HIMSS membership. What happens to the remaining months on my membership by becoming an Organizational Affiliate?
Pro-rated refunds are available upon request if you have more than 6 months of your paid membership remaining.
What benefits do individual HIMSS members receive?
Individual members have access to networking and education opportunities, resources & tools on the HIMSS website, free webinars, social networking, participation in committees and workgroups, publications, and many more benefits. Visit our individual membership page for more details.
Do the complimentary registrations for HIMSS Global Conference & Exhibition include additional events such as pre-conference workshops and receptions?
No, the complimentary registrations cover your conference registration fee, but do not include optional “add-on” events such as pre-conference workshops, symposia, receptions, etc.
Can I earn Continuing Education Credits or Units through the HIMSS Learning Center?
Yes, you can earn credits towards renewal for a number of certifications, such as CPHIMS, CAHIMS, and PMP.
As an Organizational Affiliate, what kind of discount will my staff get when they take the CPHIMS or CAHIMS exam?
Organizational Affiliates receive a 10% discount on the CAHIMS exam fee and 20% discount on the CAHIMS exam fee. Your staff must register for the exam with their work email address to get the discount.
How can my organization become an Organizational Affiliate?
OA program types are based on the needs of your organization. You can contact our sales team at oasales@himss.org and they can assist you in choosing the best level for your organization.
I just returned the signed contract for the Organizational Affiliate program. What happens next?
After you have returned the signed contract, you will be contacted by your HIMSS Relationship Manager, who will schedule an orientation with you to help you maximize the benefits of the Organizational Affiliate program.
