Denise Hines Hosts Fireside Chat with Don Rucker at ONC Tech Forum

HIMSS Chief Americas Officer Denise Hines will host a fireside chat with Don Rucker, National Coordinator for Health Information Technology at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, on Aug. 10 at the all-virtual ONC Tech Forum.

Hines and Rucker will examine policy objectives, the patient experience, HIEs in the time of COVID-19 and the future of healthcare technology.

Hines is an award-winning, nationally recognized expert in healthcare technology. She has more than two decades of healthcare experience in a variety of settings, including health systems, physician offices, home health, technology vendors, consulting, state government and revenue management. She participated on Georgia’s HIE Strategic and Operational Plan writing team and served as the co-chair of the HIE Governance Committee. She successfully launched Georgia’s first comprehensive health information transparency and HIE website.

As the National Coordinator, Rucker leads the formulation of the federal health IT strategy and coordinates federal health IT policies, standards, programs and investments. He has three decades of clinical and informatics experience. Rucker started his informatics career at Datamedic Corporation, where he co-developed the world's first Microsoft Windows-based electronic medical record. He then spent over a decade serving as Chief Medical Officer at Siemens Healthcare USA.

The ONC Tech Forum, which takes place from Aug. 10-11, convenes industry experts and federal partners to discuss technical innovations in health IT that have the potential to revolutionize the delivery of healthcare in support of improved health outcomes.
